Hi everyone! Happy New Years! I wanted to share this bit of information with you. I found this scoop in the Women's Health magazine that just came out for Jan/Feb 2008. As a cyclist, this blurb caught my eye, "Weak Wheelie". Basically, scientists reported a study in Metabolism that found "63 percent of cyclists - regardless of age- had osteopenia (lower-than-normal bone density, which increases the risk of osteoporosis) of the spine or hip, compared with just 19 percent of the runners in the study". Guess what the cause is? Lack of high impact exercises. The suggestion from Pamela Hinton, PHd is to schedule 5 minutes of plyometrics or JUMP ROPE three times a week. Happy Jumping! Tressa
