Remember the Good Times... |
|
I know, I know, you have heard and read enough about Michael Jackson’s passing over the past few days and weeks, but I just could not let this go without at least mentioning it on my blog. I won’t bore you with intricate phrases that use song titles or lyrics to tell my story. I just want to remember the man and his music. One thing is for certain: His music was awesome! I bet you have at least a few MJ Songs on your iPod or MP3 player. I was a little lax, but have re-loaded my iPod and re-purchased some older albums.
His music is GREAT to workout to, as well as dance to. Always remember that Michael Jackson wanted to keep us moving and dancing. Use this time to get your dancing shoes or your workout shoes on, turn up the MJ tunes and get moving. Pay tribute to him by getting your self prepared to live a long and healthy life. Use his passing and his music as motivation to make your self a better person both physically and mentally. His music will motivate you to get moving as well as think about ways you can help your community.
I promised to keep away from the song titles to tell my story, but it’s almost impossible to pass up. We Are The World and Man In The Mirror are just a couple of his more socially conscious songs that we need to pay a little more attention too. I’ll let you listen to them again and come up with your own conclusions. I would love to hear from you about his music - tell me your favorite MJ workout song and your favorite MJ dance song.
I did not want to use this time and space to talk about the passing of Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcett or Steve McNair, but I feel compelled to do so after watching the end of the Jackson Tribute today. The words his daughter spoke, or should I say cried, at the end of the ceremony really made me start to think about things. What would my daughter say or do if I was to pass way? What would her future be like without me? It’s pretty scary to think about your own mortality. Everyone dies, and that is a fact we cannot escape.
The events of the past few week only reinforce that. It doesn’t matter if you are rich and famous, black or white, when your time is up - it’s up. All we can do is live the BEST life we can and hope for the best. Try to remember these people for the lives they lived, not the way in which they died.
Drugs, disease and violence surround us everyday. We must do whatever we can to protect ourselves and our families from them. Eating healthy, doing exercise and saying our prayers are only part of what we must do to make it through each day. We must learn from the mistakes of others and make sure that our families do not make the same mistakes.
I know it has been a sad summer for many people already, but remember the time when things were going a little better. I know I will.
