Editor's Note: This will be the last post from one of our favorite JSN bloggers, Mike Monroe. While we are very sad to see him go, we find ourselves being very thankful that there are people like him in our world that are willing to do whatever it takes to keep us and our freedoms safe. We will miss you Mike...and Godspeed!
Greetings, once again. I hope this post finds you in a good way and enjoying the fall weather!
Random Musings: - It’s unseasonably cold here in NYC. Feels like we went from summer right into winter.
- The Jets and the Giants both lost in football this past weekend. I think the Giants are still a good team. I don’t know about the Jets—am thinking their starting (rookie) quarterback might be seeing the bench sometime soon.
- The Yankees are doing well. Not that I am a big baseball fan but I do like seeing the energy around the city as it relates to a potential World Series.
So you may remember me posting some things about myself—some pseudo soul searching stuff about life and what I want to be doing to make the world a better place. Well, without jinxing anything it looks like I found something. I am in the middle of a long process but it looks promising. If all goes well, I will be reentering the world of service to country as a civilian. Sadly, this will be my last post for the blog. I can’t get into too much detail because, as I said, I don’t want to jinx anything and because of the nature of the work. It has been a pleasure writing to you all and I hope you have enjoyed the things I have had to say.
One point I will leave you with—In the last two years, I found I was not very happy doing what I had been doing as far as my career. I felt unfulfilled and like I wasn’t really utilizing my talents. I decided not to simply be satisfied (and unhappy) with the status-quo and not to live a life that was just ordinary. So, I started searching and working toward making a change. I urge each and every one of you--if you are unhappy with any aspect of your life-- to stand up and make a change. I know it is scary to think about. Believe my life is going to be turned upside down as I make this transition and it has a huge impact on my family (hopefully for the better). You have everything to gain and not much to lose. Don’t waste your life. You only have one.
I wish you all fair winds and following seas (an old sailors’ term which means ‘best of luck’). Before I ride off into the next chapter of my life, I leave you with one of my favorite quotes.
