A defined eyebrow arch takes years off your look by creating a mini eye lift. Taking an extra row off the bottom of the inner portion of the brow does so too by creating more space and widening and opening the eyes. Additionally, a soft highlight on the bone wakes up the eye and makes brows look groomed between appointments by bouncing light off the hairs that are growing in. These tips come from highly acclaimed photography makeup artist and eyebrow specialist Elke Von Freudenberg. Her expertise as a licensed esthetician in both California and New York in shaping eyebrows for celebrities and models has made her a highly sought-after eyebrow expert.
"Eyebrows do much more than frame the eyes. They also tell others around you a story - your story. Are you confident? Tired? Sad? Powerful? Once women have had their eyebrows done terribly wrong do they realize the importance of eyebrows and what they tell others about you. The goal of perfect eyebrows is to have people notice your eyes and you, not your eyebrows," says Von Freudenberg.

No two people are exactly alike - even identical twins are subtly different - but we all have certain features we love and others that we spend countless hours, days and even years trying to disguise. A common problem area women complain about is the waist. As we age in particular, the waist start "thickening" and clothes just don't fit as well as they used to. It's perfectly normal to want to camouflage those areas of our bodies that we're not completely comfortable with, however, this trickery can only be mastered with the proper tools and a positive attitude. Brittany Padley, a fashion design student at Florida State University in Tallahassee, offers these tips for three common waist issues:
Short Waist As you would imagine, this issue is most pressing for petite women, but there are number of ways you can elongate your waist. First, wear a tunic. Try to make sure it is seamless and free of a striped print. If these elements are present, they should only be vertical. Next, try a loosely hanging belt. You don't want to wear a belt that's tight around your waist because this cuts your torso in half. Finally, your pants should be low waisted and your shirt untucked. A tucked-in shirt emphasizes the top and bottom line you have created so erase that unnecessary line altogether by untucking your shirt.
Long Waist Necklines and layering are the major rules for long waisted women. Deep V, scoop or sweetheart necklines will detract attention from long waists. |

A new website "For those who travel, those who are curious, and those who can’t commit" has launched to provide travelers with TSA-friendly products. The site, 3floz.com, was co-founded by Kate Duff and Alexi Mintz who wondered for years why they couldn’t find all of their favorite beauty products in travel-friendly sizes to take along on their frequent travels for both work and pleasure.
So, they took their combined 11 years in the beauty industry and launched 3floz.com to carry name brand, high-end beauty, grooming and personal care items that are all 3 fl. oz. or less. The site ships internationally, which many sites do not. They'll even ship directly to hotels. In Manhattan, 3floz.com offers same-day delivery via courier. For those last-minute planners, customers can receive an upgrade to overnight shipping for the price of ground by including a flight itinerary showing travel within three days. |

Is Your Calcium Working for You? |
With osteoporosis an increasing concern among women of all ages, a recent report in the medical journal Osteoporosis International found that women taking AdvaCAL calcium supplements had the highest bone density increase among 32 different calcium studies conducted between 1977 and 2008. The 32 studies involved 3,169 postmenopausal women, 79 skeletal measures and 7 different types of calcium, including dairy.
The report, entitled The Effect of Calcium Supplementation on Bone Loss in 32 Controlled Trials in Postmenopausal Women, was authored by calcium researcher Christopher Nordin, M.D. of Australia. Nordin concluded that calcium intake prevented bone loss in postmenopausal women for at least four years. Results from the 32 studies showed a wide range of bone density changes from taking different types of calcium.

You may have heard of Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese system believed to bring harmony to your house and ensure health and good fortune to the people living there. Now, Feng Shui is being applied to your wardrobe with Fashion Feng Shui, a way of dressing your whole self — mind, body and spirit. According to Lisa K. Ford, AICI, certified image, color and style consultant and Fashion Feng Shui facilitator in Tampa, Florida, “The theory behind Fashion Feng Shui is that it’s important to address every aspect of yourself – spiritual, mental and physical, to create a wardrobe that is fulfilling, fortifying, flattering and functional.”
Lisa Ford refers to her consultation as a “Fashion Feng Shui Journey” in which you will learn about yourself in ways you never imagined and find out which clothes harmonize with your body and flatter your figure. “Clothing is your body’s most intimate environment and, therefore, energetically influences your life in the same way that your home and business decors do,” says Ford. In my Fashion Feng Shui consultation, Ford described me as an “Earth energy” type – a peacemaker who prefers textured fabrics and traditional styling in versatile and basic clothes. I found that explanation to accurately describe my personal style.
