Yeah, All By Myself.

A training partner can be an invaluable tool in your quest for lean & mean. They can be motivating, competitive, inspiring and maybe even a bit knowledgeable.

More than being a friend who spots you on the bench press or shouts "gimme one more", a good training partner helps keep you accountable. A good one is hard to find, but I’ve been fortunate to have trained with some of the best.

So maybe it’s just another sign that I’m getting older, but these days I’d rather do my workouts without any distractions. Perhaps it would be easier to explain in a song I wrote especially for an occasion such as this.

I Train Alone
(Sung to the tune of George Thorogood’s “I Drink Alone”)

I train alone. Yeaaah, with nobody else.
I train alone. Yeaaah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I train alone, I prefer to sweat by myself.

Now when I get ready to work out,
I don’t want nobody trainin’ with me.
Just give me a rusty ol’ barbell;
That’s all I’ll ever need.

‘Cause I train alone. Yeah, all by myself.
I train alone. Yeah, all by myself.
Yeah, you know when I train alone, I prefer to sweat by myself.

My buddy invited me to work out.
I said if he wants to stay friends,
He’d better find someone else
To join him at the gym.

Oh, I train alone. Yeaaah, with nobody else.
I train alone. Yeaaah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I train alone, I prefer to sweat by myself.

Now the other day when I squatted,
And couldn’t get one more rep,
My power-rack kept me from getting crushed,
But I was stronger on my next set.

I train alone. Yeaaah, with nobody else.
I train alone. Yeaaah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I train alone, I prefer to sweat by myself.

Nice song Brad! I'll be singing it on my next run smilies/smiley.gif I prefer to workout alone too. "get er done" no distractions-as hard core or light as you want. When alone, tends to be more hard core-- Why?? Jen
