Actually, I want to share a cool new site that's totally unrelated to health and fitness that a friend of mine turned me on to. It's called Blastoff and the concept is pretty unique. It's basically a personalized home page or dashboard minimizing the need to open up a bunch of individual windows. It connects to a lot of the mainstream sites like CNN, ESPN, FOX News, USA Today, NPR, MTV, SHAPE, and Men's Health just to name a few. It also has a media section with HULU, You Tube and several radio stations along with a Games section which isn't really my thing, but the titles seem robust. The cool part of the site is that it has a pretty impressive shopping component with over 400 name brand stores. The special sauce is that Blastoff provides the customer with a special discount for being a member in addition to cash back on your purchases, and you get a referral fee on everyone you invite 10 levels deep. Now there are plenty of sites that give cash back and pay one level deep on a referral but 10 is unheard of. There are no annoying points to deal with or redeem and it's 100% free to join. I'm normally not impressed by these types of models but before Advanta went out of business due to the credit crunch, I would get $50 - $60 rebate checks every month for using the card that I would have used anyway for my business. Sure it's not a ton of money but it beats the 100,000 points I have rotting away on my other credit card that I never seem to get around to redeem. The site is officially in pre-launch mode scheduled to go live next week. I was lucky enough to get one of the early log-in registrations to prepare to share it with my network when it goes live. There is no cost to join and given the tough economic climate out there, if it turns out to be one of those special internet companies that grows like wildfire, why not share it with people who have helped me...that would be you by the way. Who knows how well it will be received in the market but if you want me to send you an invitation so you in turn can send it out to everyone in your network and get paid 10 levels deep on all their purchases, leave me your email address in the comments, and I'll add you to my list. What I am certain of is that it beats some chain letter telling me Jesus doesn't love me unless I send it along to 10 people. Healthy Jumping... Happy Friday to everyone! I was searching the web and magazines for a compelling topic to share today and was coming up empty until I flipped to almost the last page of my wife's US Weekly magazine. Maybe you've seen this too but I kid you not, there was a full page ad for an energy drink claiming to burn calories. Are you kidding me?!? The claim was 100 calories over 3 hours and candidly their site is pretty darn convincing. The reality is that I burn 67 calories per hour sleeping or doing nothing so why is 100 over 3 hours so great? I'm not in the mood to get tough today so let's keep it light.
