Hey Dad, Lose The Gut - Leading by Example

I hope all you dads had a great Easter holiday and kept your jelly bean handfuls to a minimum. Man, they taste good going down but the sugar shock alone can really make you regret that decision. At least that's how my day shaped up.

Today's post isn't about another dad, but was just too good to pass up. It's about a mom who is using the exact same inspiration we are to improve our own health, her newborn son. What's interesting about this mom is that she is a well-known celebrity who has always been more voluptuous. In fact, she was basically praised for being comfortable in her own skin and all that other stuff because she wasn't a toothpick. Personally, I'm always skeptical of that discussion and to me it's essentially putting on a happy face to an unhappy situation. Let's also remember, she's an actor so she makes her living based on being convincing.

What's cool about what she is saying now after she lost a bunch of weight and looks amazing is that she did it for her son who is less than a year old. Plain and simple, she did it for her son. What a tremendous revelation and inspiration.

My guess is that for years she likely tried to lose weight without success yet the moment she shifted her all important "why" to her child, success was achieved. She was quoted saying, "Make better life choices, health choices, and just create a good example for him growing up." That's it guys, she nailed it on the head and put her own health first because of her son. This is exactly what we are trying to accomplish. Again, no crazy pills, diets, hocus- pocus - just some awareness mixed in with some better life choices inspired by her offspring.

Who is this Oscar winning actress and singer? Jennifer Hudson (before and after pics). She is also now the new spokesperson for Weight Watchers who helped her achieve success. I applaud Jennifer Hudson for rethinking her approach and sharing her story to inspire others.

Healthy Jumping...
