Just when I think I've seen it all in reference to irresponsible behavior, some company lowers the bar on social responsibility. A few weeks ago I was outraged to see a bogus energy drink claiming to help you actually burn calories...which I'm sure is enjoying record sales. That's bad coming from a start-up company, but when it's a household name like Taco Bell (YUM Brands), I don't know why, but it just feels dirtier.
If you haven't seen it, they are running an ad campaign called the DriveThruDiet.com. No seriously, they are. If you are like me and waiting for the Saturday Night Live spoof at the end, you'll be waiting a long time. Apparently their brilliant marketing team actually approved this concept that if you use the Taco Bell drive-thru, you will lose weight. They even have the arrogance to trot some attractive woman out on the set claiming it helped her lose a bunch of weight with the most egregious disclaimer language I've ever seen. As Chris Berman and the guys at ESPN would say, "C'mon, Man!" |

Jillian Michaels Kicks A**! |
|
My wife just bought the new Jillian Michaels' Ultimate Body Makeover Workout DVD, so I tried it this morning. It's 45 minutes of fast-paced, fat-burning circuits that definitely get your heart rate up and burn your muscles. I really enjoyed it. It was a nice change to my current workout routine forcing me to use muscles utilizing different exercises.
Having produced workout videos before myself, I really appreciate the straight forward and honest approach. She's not bouncing off the walls and when something is hard, she says it's hard. In fact, one exercise - the superman - she says, "I hate doing these but I love the way they make me look when I'm done". Wow, honest but so accurate. |

After 8 weeks of testing and working with a small group of members, I am excited to announce the grand opening of the new Guaranteed Weight Loss Club. The results have been inspiring to say the least. Our initial group of members are averaging 1.6 lbs of weight loss per week and many of them don't even belong to a gym. Remember, THIS IS NOT A DIET. It's a lifestyle program that adapts to your life to ensure lasting change and put an end to yo-yo gimmicks.
The GWL Club is the only club that combines knowledge, state of the art tools and an 8-week step-by-step coaching program to guide you through the process. Think about it, there are some great tools out there but they require you to use them forever or the weight comes back. And there is plenty of good knowledge about weight loss but without the tools or accountability of a coach, it falls short. Lastly, hiring a personal trainer can help with exercise but what about nutrition and all the tools you need to keep track of the numbers? |

GWL Club Members Lose Big! |
|
OK, so the weight loss numbers that our new members are posting are even surprising me. I am not sure why I am surprised because it is the reason I created this program. But until you have actual members going through the program, there is always that anxious optimism. Here are some observations through the first four weeks of the program
- The average weight loss per member is 14 pounds! This isn't bogus water weight or some "cleanse" diet.
- The exerspy, in conjunction with the Weight Loss Tracker is a game changer. One member told me it is like a cell phone. The iPhone is cool but without the AT&T service plan, it is pretty much worthless.
- The GWL Club is changing the way people think. It is amazingly adaptable to their life as opposed to being asked to adapt to a new program. One member told me he simply stopped bringing change to the office so he was not tempted to use the vending machine. It is a small victory but they all add up.
- You do not need a gym membership. My favorite comment came from a woman who lost 9 lbs. in two weeks. She told me she had a gym membership and had not used in months. When I asked her if being on this program encouraged her to go back to the gym, she still had not - which made me feel even better.
- When I asked members if people were noticing their weight loss, you could almost see the smiles through the phone. One story in particular made me laugh about a guy who took his teenage daughter to a fast food restaurant. When he ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with no fries and fruit, she asked him what was wrong. Classic.

For those of you who read me regularly, you're well aware of my growing appreciation and excitement for my new Guaranteed Weight Loss Club and coaching program. One of the great joys of my weight loss journey has been realizing that others have been able to learn from my experience, apply it and achieve their own weight loss success.
A few years ago, when I encountered the first customer who told me how much I was helping them, it was awkward. I kind of brushed it off and told them it was nothing. The more and more it happened, the more energized I became to share my knowledge and continue my mission of spreading health, wellness and weight loss. Like growing any new company, it's never easy, and my journey has endured its own highs and lows. I guess where I'm going with all this is that it's taken me almost four years to realize that I am in a wonderful position to help people. What now feels like common sense to me, is eye opening for a lot of people who struggle with their weight. I'm beyond trying to come up with new and exciting ways to disguise the same sound advice I know works. I've realized it's like watching a great production or key note speech. The reason they are great is because they have practiced the same material over and over again so it comes across effortlessly. The simple fact is this: I know this topic as good as anyone in the market and the passionate facts are what people not only need but want. |
